Get started with Dynamic-CD by downloading the Development Kit. This is available as an EXE file or as a ZIP. Some systems do not permit downloading EXE files.
If you download the ZIP file, unzip it to obtain the EXE. Run the EXE file to install the Dynamic-CD development kit on your computer.
Try out the demos and the examples provided with the documentation. Note: the demos and documentation run in the ASP version of Dynamic-CD and so do not illustrate the ASP.NET version Dynamic-CD.Net.
To start developing your own Dynamic-CDs, first create the content of your CD in a "source" directory on your hard disk. Add processing and interactivity to your static HTML pages with ASP script files or ASP.NET code. Scripts can be used to link together HTML pages and other file formats such as databases. ASP pages containing sensitive information can also be password protected.
Once your source directory is ready, use Dynamic-CD-Wizard to help you create an "CD image" directory that you will finally burn to your CD.
On insertion into a CD drive, Dynamic-CD will AutoPlay, displaying your first page.

Dynamic-CD-Wizard
Dynamic-CD-Wizard helps you create your own Dynamic-CDs.
- Dynamic-CD-Wizard copies the Dynamic-CD runtime into your CD image directory.
- Dynamic-CD-Wizard sets up various Dynamic-CD parameters, such as the initial page to be shown.
- Dynamic-CD-Wizard lets you choose files or directories to protect with passwords.
- Dynamic-CD-Wizard can also encrypt your ASP .asp pages, so that no one can see your code.
The Development Kit
- Get the Dynamic-CD development kit.
The following steps will only work if you have downloaded this kit. - Running ASP Dynamic-CD for the first time

To demonstrate Dynamic-CD in action, select Start+Programs+Dynamic-CD+Dynamic-CD Demo
from your Start menu.
The demo will start Dynamic-CD and show the first page in your default browser.
If your browser asks you to Connect or Try again, select these options. Dynamic-CD runs "on-line" at the web address above and so working "off-line" is not possible. Try out all of the demos to confirm that Dynamic-CD functions correctly.

- You can check that ASP Dynamic-CD will run direct from a CD.

By default, the Development Kit files are installed in the directory
C:\Program Files\PHD\DynamicCD .
Burn all the files in this directory (and its subdirectories) onto the root directory of a test CD. The CD should AutoPlay correctly when inserted into your CD player. If the CD is removed while Dynamic-CD is running, the user is shown a dialog asking to cancel Dynamic-CD, or replace the CD. |
