Switching off XP SP2 blocking and popup dialogs.
Microsoft's release of SP2 for XP has caused a lot of headaches for anyone
serving local content. For our comments on Microsoft's stategy
look here.
Dynamic-CD is not itself affected by XP SP2 but a "Windows Security Alert" from
"Windows Firewall" appears in response to running Dynamic-CD versions prior to 2.9.6
The alert message is an all but incomprehensible message about blocking internet connections :
"Windows firewall has blocked this program from accepting connections from the
Internet or a network."
The functioning of Dynamic-CD is not affected by any choice in response to this dialog;
consequently Dynamic-CD version 2.9.6 switches off the dialog and enables blocking
as if the user had selected "Keep Blocking". This will help reduce user confusion.
Dynamic-CD is not able to switch off the Microsoft dialog if the user has only guest
permissions.
XP SP2 also gives warnings about popups originating from a given site. Again, Dynamic-CD
switches these warnings off for the local host IP address 127.0.0.1
